It could Active Sensing, which is part of System Real Time.  It's like that
phone company commercial, "can you hear me now?? can you hear me now??" and
just as stupid.  If you are curious, I'd use software like Kurweil's
MIDIscope and look at it.  Active Sensing is FEH in hex.

No, din sync isn't part of MIDI.

I'd turn it off, especially if you are using Clock or SysEx.
