It's a game the industry pays to ensure technological advances. See if 
the parts from the 70's were all still available, everyone would us 
them. Now, we are forced to try out other options, make discrete 
solutions, etc.

The industry policy (especially Analog Devices) of discontinuing exactly 
the part you need is there for your intellectual benefit.
