I spent a lot of time coming up with the right sort of controls
for my ASM-1.  See what I came up with here:

As for warped responses others mention, it's not like my controls are
calibrated, things are easily set by ear, and I don't find I have
problems with one end of the range being too sensitive and the other
not sensitive enough.
