You do not need the expression edal to use the instrument. The note was
probably placed there because it states in the user manual to not attach
pedals with the power on, other wise there is a risk of shorting a +V
supply to ground.
The expression pedal works in conjuction with the EXP & EXP/WAH switches
to the left of the keyboard. The sustain pedal is just a footswitch,
whereas the exp pedal is a LDR-type. While these pedals enhance the use
of the machine, they are not strictly needed.
