Go into a *completely* dark room, such as a photographic darkroom. Unroll some
adhesive tape, and watch the actual spot on the roll where the tape is letting
loose of the layer beneath it. If your eyes are properly adapted to the total
darkness of the room, you will actually see some "arcing" taking place.
Different types of adhesive tapes will provide different amounts of visible
activity.

It makes me wonder about the safety of all those anti-static bags that I've
seen, sealed with adhesive tape.  :)
