This was a ceramic packaged quad gate of some sort, with one gate connected
to the input of a sensor. I took the ic, stood it on end and whacked it with
a hammer and chisel. This split off the ceramic top (lid?) piece (originally
glued in place) and allowed me clear access to the internal chip. The quadrant
of the chip corresponding to the gate normally connected to the input sensor
was obviously damaged, even with the naked eye. I may actually still have this
chip around, if I do I will try to photograph it and post it for all to see.
But I have not always been so lucky opening ceramic dip packages, usually the
chip gets torn apart in the process.
Take care,
Doug
