Hi all

Try an oscilloscope. In 1950-51, Norman McLaren made "Around is Around",
the first film made using an oscilloscope to generate patterns
(lissajous pictures). It was a 3-D film, with stereo soundtrack, 10
minutes long. 

I don´t know where you can find this film (it´s great!), but there´s
some animated lissajous pics here, just for fun:
