In one position, when you press a new note the previous note(s) are cut
off. On the other position, they are left to fade at the time set by the
release slider. The attack control simply affects the final output of
the string section and not the individual notes. This is a compromise
between easy circuitry and usefulness. If you have long attack times you
will find that you will probably want the previous notes cut off as the
new ones fade in. IMHO, this is the weakest part of this string/organ
thing.

BTW: Good mod to do is to remove the 100R (?) resistor that connects in
series to the attack pot. Replacing this with a wire link allows near
instant attack times which gives you a nice lead synth sound.
