	Hey folks,

I'm trying to get this Midi2cv8 kit into my Simmons SDS-800 - yay for
MIDI-triggered drum synths! - but I've run into a question that is
slightly beyond my humble soldering skills...

I'm trying to power the Midi2cv8 from the internal powersupply of the
SDS-800, and I'm not certain it's completely up to the task... Is there
someone that knows about this kind of thing that could spare a second to
glance at the powersupply schematic for the SDS-800 (which I've posted
at http://riotnrrd.com/mux/sds800/sds800psu.gif) and let me know if this
would draw too much current...?

Also, according to the manual, I should be able to feed the Midi2cv8
either 12v AC *or* any DC voltage from 12v-18v to the + and - pads, and
the SG pad to the "star ground"(?) of the equipment being retrofitted.
Sounds ok - I hooked the midi2cv8 too the +15 and -5 connectors on P1 on
the SDS-800 power board, and did the tests - in this configuration, MIDI
testing works perfectly, but the CV tests all fail, with no CV output at
all. However, when I hook the Midi2cv8 board up using an external 12V
AC adapter, everything tests out fine.

Basically, I'm a real newbie at this. I'd like to tap 12V AC off of
the SDS-800 power supply, but I'm not sure if I'm hurting anything if I
just tap the 12V side of the transformer... anyone got a spare minute to
check for me?

Thanks in advance; I've been lurking on this list for a long while now,
just listening and learning. :)

	Cheers,
	- Drew.
