[sdiy] korg rhythm 55b restart/schematic questions

aloha list - lurker here saying hello.
last night i was fooling around with an old korg 55b
drum machine. great sounds! added gate inputs
for all 8 percussion sounds. which are pretty decent
in my book. unfortunetly i cannot figure out how
to get it's internal rhythms to 'stop/start'.
it has a start/stop input. a gate will turn it on/off.
is there anyway around this? it would be ideal
to send a gate every mesaure to restart the loop,
but am unsure as to how to go about this.
also anyone out there that 'MAY' have the schematics
for this lil beast would be appreciated. if i could extend
the kick's decay it would be heaven
