[sdiy] socket question

While on the subject...

What do you all think about using sockets, or any other connector
in a module to carry analog signal?
My next modules will be consisting of 2 boards connected only via
several pins like power supply and control voltages. I.e. one board contains
all pots, and additional circuitry for attenuators,
while second smaller board is the core module.
I don't feel comfortable with using common header like those for
IDC connectors. Those will get dirty in time, and poor little
milivolts might get lost on the way. And I can't forget what
happened in my Crazy Source moog simply because of improperly
used sockets (power regulatros are sitting in those...)
What connector type should i use? Should I forget about it and
simply solder 2 boards with wires? I know Tony Clark uses huge
(96 pin?) connectors in his beautifull SMD modules, but I want
about 15 pins, and I have limited space.

any comments welcome

Roman

__I would use AMP Diplomate brand and not be worried at all...
__they have such high pressure at the contact area they are
__like a wire wrap (gas tight) connection... and with the
__wiping action and excellent retention force...
__
__I use tin-lead plated (not gold).
__
__The latest batch I got seemed a little less robust than the
__old stock (maybe 10 years older)... I'm slightly concerned.
__In higher pin count (14 pin and higher) I'd expect no problems.
