I lost my job at RCA/Thomson due to some financial meddling, although
we beat all financial expectations (yeah, lets kill the cash cow in
the name of our reduction bonuses).. Its great to get told "You still
have a job for years to come" on Friday and then be told Monday "Youre
all laid off." Was the second highest rated individual in the entire
DEPT, rated higher than my managers, and *still* got the shaft.. They
were worried about age discrimination lawsuits essentially, since I
the was youngest by about 15 years.
Great..It will soon be an even darker day in the history of RCA
quality with us gone, since we were the overworked last defense of
quality left in the organization.. Yes, you heard that right, they
moved the quality approval to China and are using Chinese nationals,
ppl 3000 miles away who don't even know how most of this gear is
supposed to work. ;) Like the wolves watching the sheep...
RCA/Thomson brand name quality will plummet. Boycott their products
after September unless you like to buy crap, since I can guarantee
that since my job will be gone, the floodgates will be open for bad
quality products.
Okay, now the question is, anyone have any clues on any jobs for a
fellow Diyer in the Midwest Area (exluding Chicago, ick!)
I speak/read/write German, Korean, and some Japanese (if corp wants, I
could prlly pick up Mandarin too fairly quickly) knowledge about
troubleshooting uP based systems, battery management, electric-storage
and alternative-fueled vehicle systems, video, radio, audio, some CAN
experience, I2C, circuit board layout, CNC machining, solid modeling,
structural analysis X-ray, ballistics, high-speed photography,
ordinance, etc..
Oh, and I can fix most of my synths too. ;)
