Hi, I my mailserver has been down for a while, so I missed the begining of this thread, is there an archive somewhere?

I am just a humble programmer, no hardware guy, I usually dont understand what you guys talk about altough I enjoy reading it, but this time atleast I understood some of it and how you where thinking, so this thread really got me interested. I want to get into this stuff! I can start very simple just a midi controlled oscillator or even more simple, maby driving a sid chip like someone suggested would be cool. I am a complete newbee, but I must start somewhere. Any ideas how to get started, what pic/programmer should I use? should I start with building someone elses diy project? where can I find info about the electronics, I will try google, but please give me some hints what to search for.

My goal is to be able to build a simple midi controlled synth by myself on my spare time, and I am in no hurry.
