Well, It's actually the oposite, at least here in Sweden. The reason exotic
woods are difficult to get hold of is because there is a ban on importing
them, in order to save the rainforests (they say).
My brother-in-law is a master violin maker by the way. When I visited him
in his workshop last week, he was working on a violin which had a genuine
Stradivarius lid. Unfortunately, most of the rest had been replaced long
ago, but it still was a very fine instrument.
