SOIC is a pain in the #&% for DIY'ers but if that is the only package option
for the part, you have to be creative. If you have PCB making facilities,
this is an option to make your own board--we had the same thing happen at my
company and I made little adapter boards. Otherwise, Halted Specialties
www.halted.com has adapter boards They are local for me in San Jose but you
can order from them too.
A suggestion of what NOT to do is don't play with the pins on the SOIC
device. these tend to be quite brittle and you'll just break them off and
then...
