OK, I found the schemo's on the net (and thanks for the tip from RD as
well).
1/8 amp - jeez, this is small. No wonder it blew!
Now, let me pose a question. He and I over the phone were able to verify
the primary and second transformer configuration accurately. This unit is a
little different than the schemo actually, as the model II as documented
shows there is a power lamp and my friend Miles say there is none on this
unit. Weird - the schemo shows that the light is in the switch assembly
itself.
In any event, Miles cannot tell if the fuse is blown - he can see the
filiment intact, but you know how many times it means its broken behind the
end caps and you can't see it. The fuse is the type that's soldered into
place. he doesn't have a soldering iron.
I want to suggest to him that he get a new fuse, and two alligator clip
cables and and run a new fuse in parallel with the one on the board, just
for a second to see if the unit lights up.
I feel this is a pretty safe bet because even if the fuse on the board is
good, we are only talking a 1/4 amp - I mean, if something is blown on the
unit, it's going to rise over a quarter amp on the primary side of the
trransformer....
right?
is this being foolish?
OK, lemme have it,
Peter
