[sdiy] Los Angeles surplus?

It's a secret - okay, it's not a secret... Apex Surplus in San Fernando is
pretty cool. Been there for decades, not only do they have rows & piles of
avionics test junk from the heyday of the cold war, but they have pieces of
the airplanes too! Need an old turbojet compressor spool? They just might
have it. The back lot is outdoors, so stuff gets rained on, but heck it's So
Cal so it doesn't rain much anyway. Inside is all the small stuff. It's a
good place for motors (build your own leslie?), electrolytics, relays, old
pots, old knobs, jacks, etc. Prices are negotiable but they're pretty tough
about it sometimes. Plan on spending the day there!

All Electronics in Van Nuys has newer parts but they do also have big old
surplus junk that comes and goes.

It has been a long time since I was there, but C&H surplus
(Pasadena) (they have a web site) generally had lots of stuff.
Sometimes their prices were good, sometimes they seemed a bit
outrageous. I was never sure how they sometimes decided what thing
cost. I haven't been there for 20 years now, so I am not sure what the
store is like now.
