I tend to use Farnell (http://uk1.farnell.com)
They have a good range of caps, most of which are orderable in multiples of 5 as a minimum.
You need to register to use their site, but that's straightforward, and you can search by
manufacturer number as well as browsing the catalog by type.
I know of one "component substitution and locator" page: Jim Patchell's site

There are probably many others. Can other members 'chip in' on this :) ?
