What's probably going on is that he contracted a virus that went through his 
inbox and address book and sent stuff out to all the e-mail addresses it 
found. Such virus sending is almost always the work of a virus or worm, 
rather than an intentional attempt to infect anybody...moral of the story: 
outlook is garbage as far as security goes.
