[sdiy] ASM-1 VCO / keyboard

The 6 CV inputs are used for several reasons, using a pot before them
allows you to add coarse and fine tuning knobs, plus you could use one
for a modulation input (LFO, perhaps a ADSR) and of course use one from
the keyboard (or MIDI controller for those who prefer)
FM stands for "Frequency Modulation", so actually, this is where the LFO
should go in. the pulse with allows you to control the duty ratio of the
square wave with some kind of voltage rather than turning a knob (which
you could also do), again with an LFO, or ADSR etc.
I've only got a vague idea what the sync input does, and couldn't give
you anything that resembles a decent explanation.
The outputs of your keyboard are the control voltage and the gate (or,
some prefer "trigger") the CV controls yer VCO and VCF (and anything
else really if you so desire) and the gate is primarily used to activate
the ADSR.
There are other possible outputs, such as velocity etc, but these are
getting to complex and not worth bothering with on a first time
synth-diy project.

Subject: [sdiy] ASM-1 VCO / keyboard
Hello guys,
I was wondering if anyone can explain me what the asm-1 vco inputs are
exactly? Looking at vco schematic, I noticed that there are 6 CV, 2
linear
FM, 2 pulse width and 1 sync input. I know what the CV inputs are (why
do we
need 6?), but I'm not quite sure what the rest are.
I still haven't built my cv keyboard with interface yet, so I still
don't
know what the outputs of that are going to be. Is there actually a
simple
interface I can built that will output all these vco inputs? If yes, can
I
have the schematic? If not, should I buy myself a MIDI keyboard and a
MIDI/CV converter? Will that be enough? Any suggestions on what MIDI
keyboard and MIDI/CV converter I should get?
Thanks in advance.
