[sdiy] Chroma Polaris problems

hi

    I have a chroma polaris with abit of a problem there are two plastic
ribbon type cables in the polaris that connect between the two control
panel boards in the polaris, these are folded over by the wonderful
people at fender/rhodes which has the side effect of causing the
conductors to crack in 20 years and causing every membrane switch to
die. There is a fix of using a conductive pen on them, but it has been
tried and only helped for a few months. Is there anyway to replace these
or can a normal piece of ribbon cable be used instead?
