I've always said to those that asked if I was ever a professional 
musician,
that if by "pro" they meant getting paid, then the answer was yes, if 
they meant
turning a profit (considering equipment purchases) the answer was no.

I played one gig where the band's bar tab was more than the door. Sucks
owing the club money after a gig.
