I have to admit ot never haveing this problem..
Though they are VERY over priced.

Ive done this, I contacted philips , I wanted some 74S219's...
(only company left makeing them)...
They had an MOQ of 550, they were quoted at 4.50UKP EACH!!!
I spoke to the guy and said "thats a bit more than I need", he said "how
many do you need" I said 20 (being over optomistic) he said "let me see what
I can do...
two days later 25 arrived in the post , labelled "Engineering samples, no
charge"

What a star!

As someone said, IC makers dont mind giving samples, you could  be their
next big customer in a year or two!

I have to say , 99% of the time if I want something I goto Maxim first,
they're much better than AD for sample range and the speed is just amazeing
(2days on average!)
