Trevor,
I'm excited about this and want a couple of boards too... any plans for
doing a remake of the sequencer though? That would be killer...
Anyway, I ran across something the other day that maybe you should know. It
makes me think that you'd be better off keeping the tr909 project "on the
DL" (down low), below the radar...
It seems that a plugin developer for a freeware DSP music software called
BUZZ asked Roland for permission to replicate their 808 and 909 in software
for his new freeware plugin. He got permission for the 808, but wasnt given
permission specifically for the 909. He released the 808, and then started
to release the 909 plugin, thinking they just forgot or something, but was
then told by Roland's lawyers to cease and desist... strange... no trouble
with the ROUT-808 at all, but the ROUT-909 is no longer available...
Maybe call it an "drum synthesizer" and use a codename close enough to tr909
so that we would know, but not infringe on any 1980's re-hype that Roland
might want to cash in on... (I'm sure the MC-909 will be coming out any day
now...)
Just a thought. I dont know the specifics about this stuff, but I hate to
see all your hard work quashed by a money greedy corporation... primarily
because I want one of these! :)
