[sdiy] sh-101 power supply problem

I'm hoping that someone here has more insight into the
power supply of a roland sh101 than I do. I turned on
the synth to find that it would make only "brown"
sounds and the power led flashing in time with the lfo
led, each one on at opposite times. After some
investigation I found that the power adaptor was only
putting out around 5 volts when connected to the
synth, and transistor 1 was too hot to be working
properly. It looks like what might be happening is the
power adaptor is being loaded too heavily because of
the transistor going out. I have a suitable
replacement, but I thought I should check here before
I did anything in case somebody knows what might have
killed it or has another idea of what the problem is.
Any input whatsoever would be appreciated.
