   This sounds like it's designed to be a front end to an A/D converter 
of some sort.  Basically it is a low parts count active filter which is 
great for system designers but may not be of much interest to the DIY 
community since it's very easy to make one of these things out of a 
couple of op-amps and resistors and capacitors.
   With the extra shutdown capabilities of this chip, I'd hazard a guess 
that it's actually aimed more towards the mobile electronics industry.  
The packaging also supports this (SSOP versus larger SOIC SMT).  That 
means you'll have a hell of a time trying to solder the chip!
   But don't let that dissuade you from trying it out!  ;)
