HI,
I also thought of doing a similar design,but just using the hall effect
sensors.so you would know the actual key height .
it might be possible to have a calibration mode when no keys are
pressed, and allow for any offsets produced by the hall effect switched.
I got as far as getting a few of the linear output [ rather than on/off
] hall effect devices .but I haven't had enough time to spend any more
time on it .
But I think Rob's idea seems better.[and cheaper ].
I think originally Ensoniq had a patent on polyphonic aftertouch using
inductors ? but I don't know the Patent number .
I agree the magnets wouldn't need to be that strong.
