Thanks to everyone who helped me out on this,
(and to think that I had MPF102's sitting in 
my cabinet this whole time, very embarrassing).
FYI - The 1k 3000ppm temp. sensor from Farnell 
are $4.95 ea. and they have a minimum of $10 
on mail order sales (not including $7 postage,
ouch!) and don't seem to mind the public.
In fact, I'm thinking of ordering some, so if 
any one from this neck of the woods (Melb. Vic.) 
want to join in to reduce that postage cost, email me.
