Well allrightey....
when it comes to BIG electrolytic caps... all bets are off. They will blow in
whatever
direction suits their fancy. If the rault is caused by voltage breakdown... the
ensuing
arc plasma cuts right through the can.
I always see the little ones (maybe up to 470uF / 50V) blow the top of the can
off.
Probably... they cannot fit enough powder in the little ones to make more than a
firecracker.
