Basically, because I'm still looking for a uC or uP capable of
performing a 16 x 16 mul with full 32 bits output in 10 - 20 ns,
and the only solution I've found so far is a Scenix SX @ 75 MHz
hooked to a Logic Devices multiplier...
Of course, a DSP is an option, but DSPs aren't easy to implement,
from a hardware pt of view, at least for a hobbyist...
So I was wondering if the i8/960 wasn't what I was looking for, with
its 25 ns cycle time, its ability to perform a floating-point add, a floating-

point multiply and an integer operation every cycle...

BTW during my web searches I noticed that there seems to be a new line
of motherboards (Tyan IIRC) using the i860 chipset...
