Never heard this name, but it sounds rather interesting - I guess it warps the timing of the 24 ppqn DIN sync signal to create grooves. e.g. for a "shuffle" effect, delay the 2nd and 4th 1/16 note of every 1/4 quarter note (in 24 ppqn terms this is the 7th and 19th pulse of every 24).

I was remembering wrong, the 909 has a button not a knob, with shuffle handled entirely in software (a fixed set of 7 shuffle levels).
But what about a MIDI 'swingtiser' that quantises midi note on messages into a groove (or perhaps more practical a 'swinglagger' that adds a delay to note on messages depending on where they appear in the bar) .. configurable via 16 knobs or faders (1 for the "lag" of each 16th part of the bar). Should be possible to do this with not much more than a uC. Perhaps one or two built in LFOs (syncable with MIDI clock) which can be assigned to modulate each lag. Could be really interesting.
