So you ended up with the dead machine...
The full schematics for the Jen SX1000 are on my site if it helps (URL in
the sig) as is the data sheet for the M110 chip if it helps. I've been
meaning to look at the M110 in my (working) SX1000 for a while. I think it
should be possible to hang a PIC off the M110 to tell which keyboard row is
being scanned and then respond with the column (PIC being bascially a MIDI
to M110 convertor). But I digress; the Kenton MIDI retrofit for the SX1000
replaced/added a whole new MIDI controlled VCO, so it might be possible to
retrofit the Kenton kit and revive the SX1000. Trouble is, Kenton have
recently discontinued the kit (and it wasn't cheap, it cost far more than I
paid for the SX1000 and I imagine an order of magnitude more than that for
what you got the SX1000 for....)
