For a basic monophonic voice, you're looking at
VCO, VCF, VCA and one EG.
You'll also need a power supply, and if controlling from MIDI a MIDI>CV
nterface.

how much you want to spend (money wise) and how much time you want to spend
are probably the major factors..
If you want to build it quickley, a few people offer PCB/KITs (oakley, Paia,
Modcan, Motm, etc)
If you want to do things slowly or in your own unique way, then you could do
worse than start with some of the schematics on the internet and adopt them
to meet your needs...

What is it your duaghter wants from a synth, and what is it you want ot
build?
