... and speaking of books, I have just received a wonderful
book for analysing (and synthesis) of traditional instruments:

A. H. Benade, "Fundamentals of Musical Acoustics"

I think Ian Fritz has mentioned this on his web site.

I have only read the chapter about violins so far, and
I think it's awesome - I just took the information from
this chapter and re-programmed a violin patch on my VL7
(adjusting resonances to fit air and wood resonance of
a measured violin according to this book), and it's much
more realistic now. Can't await to read the other chapters ...
