Well, I solved the mystery of why my AVR was giving me erratic
behavior...and thanks to all those who made suggestions. Even though
none of them solved the problem directly, they did help me eliminate
them as posible causes.
Now, I will tell you what the problem is despite the fact that it
will make me look like a complete moron. But, who knows, it might help
somebody in the future. Turns out that in the project file of the C
compiler (I use the Image Craft AVR C compiler), the device type was set
to "Custom". As soon as I set it to "8515" everything started working
fine. I found this by going over some old ground. In one of my
previous posts I said that the code ran 100% reliably on the STK200
card...turns out, this was not true. Somehow, I was just lucky before
that it worked every time I turned the power on. When I tried it again,
I got the same behavior that I got on my Synth Board.
So, in the end, it turned out to be a software problem instead of
hardware...(being a hardware dude, I usually blame the software first,
this time I was wrong).
