I think that's a matter of personal taste to some extent, and I'd like to
hear some comments from the rest of this list, but I think the approximate
3 mS lag you measured is well within most people's "comfort" zone. 

I'm not sure that most people have millisecond-accurate keyboard skills to
begin with, but if you really are that accurate, then just play 3 mS
faster.   :)
