I just wanted to tell everyone that in the latest issue of American Heritage 
of Invention and Technology (fall 2002), there is a cover story on vacuum 
tubes. In fact Eric Barbour is mentioned and quoted in the article. There is 
an interesting bit on the nanotriode: a microscopic vacuum tube less than 100 
millionths of a millimeter across.  I can't imagine what a synth made from 
these would sound like.
