the good thing about the PUT is, you can make an oscillator 
with only 3 resistors & a cap.
AND, it is a saw!!!!! which musically is a GOOD THING.

One of the team currently overwintering in Antartica has built a stylophone
(size of a small guitar, from clear acrylic and aluminium, with 
a portamento knob on the end).
It's in a band with mercury switch shakers, and electronic bongos!
