[sdiy] Re[2]: Behringer mixers...

I've been using the Mackie stuff for years with no problems -- I even used
it back when Bob was making Tapco mixers (I still use one of those). I've
got the ms1202 mixer, hr824 monitors, and the m1400i amp. The 1604 or 1642
are great rack mountable mixers.

I may be biased, but after reading about the law suit Mackie had against
Behringer for their knock-off of the 1202, I wouldn't buy the Behringer
stuff even if it were better. Ever notice how the Behringer active monitors
look exactly like the hr824's? I'd rather support the companies that come
up with the original ideas.

And no, I don't have an interest in Mackie, although they are located a
couple of miles from where I work.

Cheers...Brian

Subject: [sdiy] Re[2]: Behringer mixers...

I've been following this thread with some interest since I was just
about to buy a behringer MX2642 but held off on it due to reading
posts here about their apparent lack of quality. I was using one live
(owned by another band member) and it was somewhat flaky but sounded
OK. Though there are a lot of aspects of a mixers performance that
don't become readily apparent when you're putting mainly power tools
and contact mics through it.

I'm thinking of looking at mackie's offerings even though they're more
expensive. I preferably need something I can optionally rackmount, with 16
to
24 channels. XLR ins and outs would be nice.

Anybody have any ideas or any particular models they use and are happy
with?
