It's my understanding that there one factory in China cranking out a lot of
this cheap gear. Very little changes between one "brand" and the next,
except the paint and maybe the shape of the knobs, if you look at the
underlying mixer. Samson, Behringer, Nady and Phonic appear to be in that
category.
Peavey have made so many boards through the years, so there are some real
gems and some real junk. They usually have pretty good band for the buck,
but sometimes the build quality is pretty poor, or there were (necessary)
features that were trimmed to make the price point. I'm not sure how their
current affordable line are different from the Chinese mixers. I used a
couple of their older ones with the internal power amp. They were built
like tanks...stood up to a LOT of abuse.
