Gene,

I have been down this road (eBay) trying to find a hardware spectrum
analyzer. Any of the older (affordable) models probably aren't up to the
standard you may want for demanding audio performance. The newer stuff
is still way expensive.

You might want to look into a software package for a PC. These run
between $150 and $700 or so and offer performance equivalent to or
better than an older hardware based solution (besides taking up a lot
less real estate). An internet search should turn up several
possibilities. Check out these:

http://www.telebyte.com/pioneer/
http://www.sumuller.de/audiotester/
http://www.hampubs.com/spec.htm

Hope this helps,

Scott

Hey - I wonder what a good spectrum analyzer goes for on ebay. Does
anybody know of a good make/model with a comfortable audio-range
display?
