Hi group-
I'm looking over JH's Quadra Phaser clone and considering building it. It
uses a large network of CA3086 transistor arrays. This part is kinda hard
to find and varies greatly in price (Mouser @ $5 each (NTE912?), Jameco @
$0.50 each). The CA3046 seems like a likely sub. Looking over the data
sheets of both parts, they look identical. Further digging I learned that
the CA3046 is basically a CA3086 sorted out for a matching spec. So bottom
line, CA3086 is a poorly matched array and CA3046 is a better matched array
(right?).
Does anyone know the Quadra Phaser requires CA3086's to achieve its' sound
or will the better matching of the CA3046 yield a better result?
