I have had some good luck with dish detergent and water, if you can
believe that! ;) A dishwasher tends to work nicely too, but don't let
your wife know. ;)

Afterwards, a bit of silicone lube gel works wonders.. Off of the
advice of K. Lightner, I have taken whole boards from an arp oddy, put
em in Simple Green, dried it, and it came up perfectly, much to my
amazement. A bit of lube jel squirted down into the sliders, and good
as new..

The general rule seems to be that petroleum products are bad because
they compromise the adhesives and resins in the pot, as is TFT and
just about any other harsh cleaner.

> What can I do about dirty sliders? I've got a mixer with a
crossfader that tends to crackle around the far left and right, and
often when it's at either extreme it lets a bit of the wrong signal
through. I can't really get at it to clean it, and I'm not quite sure
what else I could do. Somebody suggested WD-40 but I'm not too sure
about that.

off, but sometimes they seem to just get really noisy after a couple
decades. Usually I just spin them back and forth till I get bored and
that seems to help, but sometimes they just can't seem to be fixed
that way, are they due to be replaced?
