[sdiy] Blind Luck with Noise Generator?

I can't believe the luck I just had. I was working on my
synthesizer

http://www.silcom.com/~patchell/smb1/smb.html

Spent the morning Tuning the VCO's. When I completed that, I
decided to get the noise source working. Literally picked a 2n3904, at
random, selected a bias resistor, again, more or less at random...gain
values for the amplifier more or less at random...hooked it up (well,
soldered them into the board), and bingo...what sounds like nice clean
white noise (clean noise...?). Maybe I better go out and buy a lottery
ticket. Never had a noise source that worked right off the bat before.
