EEEEK!   Please tell me you use a pop-screen on your U47!!!!

There are disolved minerals and other nasty stuff in your breath.  As the
condensation evaporates this crud is left behind, collecting on the capsule
and ruining it's response.   ALWAYS use a pop filter.  These old capsules
cannot be replaced... the modern "equivalents" are not very equivalent.
