I am reluctant to admit that my DIY days go back to the late '50s when I used to go down to the
local radio repair store and offer to relieve them of any electronic parts/chassis they did not
want. Sometimes they would give me complete, almost working tube radios.
I did not get much working in those days but boy did I get some shocks off the transformers and
caps. Started a few small fires too - nothing serious.  Maybe that's why my hair decided to leave me
at an early age!
