When my machine broke down the only people who had the schematics and service
guide for these instruments were Akai themselves. You could try ringing one of
the Akai official repair agencies. Toni Fleming Audio might be able to help. He
had all of the docs and schematics for my DR8 when it went "tits up" in 2000. 

Failing Tony, look up Akai's home page, hunt for the London technical centre
(it's near Heathrow Airport) and ask to speak to Errol. He has been very helpful
in the past.
