I have successfully used Cool Edit 2000 with it's Audio Cleanup Plugin. www.syntrillium.com . The program doesn't appear to be program dependent. You do need a silent groove for reference.
Take care,
John

Subject: [sdiy] A record question..
Can anybody recommend a good program for removing the pops and clicks from vinyl recordings while converting them to CD? I'm trying to make CD copies of much of my vinyl collection.
Also, does the success of these programs depend on the type of source material? I'm going to be working with stuff like Thrill Kill Kult, KMFDM, Pig, Minor Threat. Will I have more trouble converting less melodic/more noisy material like these with good quality than, say, my copy of switched-on-bach?
