I've used 2N3819's in the same circuit (the Modulus VCO is a straight clone
of the ASM-1) and they worked well. but the pinout is different so you have
to sort of twist it around.....You might try Transonics if you are in teh UK
(can't remember contact details but htey sould be on the web)....they've
been a good source for stuff for me in the past, though you might ahve to
buy rather a lot to get a few IYSWIM...
