Another thing that would work is the VU meter chip (don't remember the
number) with the LED outputs- you then run each output through a pot and sum
them together. This has been mentioned in this forum many times as a good
tunable quantizer/sequencer. You're limited to 10 steps, however.
Beyond that a micro with a 10 bit A/D and an 8-16 bit D/A with a lookup and
interpolation between would be nice. This means you can remember and change
tunings on the fly. This has been on my (much too long) list of things to
do for a while. Now that I'm up and running on the PIC it may happen.
